Task 2: Movie Review

Flightplan

This movie is tells about an aircraft engineering based in Berlin, Kyle Pratt (Jodie Foster) who has gone home to long Island, US, to bury her husband, David (John Benjamin Hickey) who has died caused by falling down from the roof of an avionic manufacturing building. She went home with her six year-old daughter, Julia (Marlene Lawston). She flew by passenger aircraft Elgin 474 which Kyle helped design.

The story began when Kyle’s daughter missing on aircraft after a few hours flown. She started to find Julia. But there’s no Julia on aircraft. Kyle has tried many efforts to find Julia by asking some people on aircraft. It seems to be hard to find her. No one remember Julia. Then, she ask to the flight attendant to find out about its passenger manifest. She was surprised because there’s no Julia’s name on passenger manifest.

She looks like angry, disappoint, and so many bad sense in her mind. People thought that she was crazy. Screaming, shouting, and running on aircraft without control (out off control). Kyle didn’t care about what they were thinking of. She was continuing her mission. Find Julia. Silently, she climbs up the roof of the aircraft (upper compartment). She was working on. She made some trouble. Turn off the aircraft electricity and turn on the alarm.

On the cabin, passengers so frightened. Their screamed, shouted, and some of them cried. Flight attendant has tried to make situation calmer. And it works. Captain has decided to emergency landing at Goose Bay Airport in Goose Bay, Labrador, the passengers exit the aircraft as the tarmac is surrounded by U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents (though the airport is properly Royal Canadian Mounted Police jurisdiction).

Now, there’s only Kyle, air marshal Gene Carson (Peter Sarsgaard) and a flight attendant, Stephanie (Kate Beahan) who has plan about their conspiracy. Carson told Kyle, this is pure conspiracy and he was behind the scene. Kyle has guessed before. She hit Carson suddenly. He was going insane for a while. Stepahanie tried to help him. Kyle continuing to find Julia. Finally, she found Julia on avionic of the aircraft.

Stephanie going out from the aircraft. Carson has realized and run quickly to find Kyle and her daughter. He saw Kyle with her daughter in her arms who has entered a small door. He points the gun to them and shoots. But, isn’t working. Kyle shows the detonator in her hand to Carson. She holds on the button and Carson died.

Then, she goes out from the aircraft with Julia in her arms. So many people out there who have not believed what Kyle’s carry in. Peoples move close to her and give their sympathy.

Judie Foster as Kyle Pratt, Peter Sarsgaard as Gene Carson, Marlene Lawston as Julia, Sean Bean as Captain Marcus Rich, Kate Beahan as Stephanie.

2. The film take place in Berlin (German) and The avionics bay was actually from an Alitalia 747-200's bay. The interior design and layout is similar to an actual airplane, the Airbus A380.

3. The best thing that I like most from this film is Character of Kyle who has strong and deep emosion related to this character. And also the story that make me love this film so much.
